Saturday was the perfect fall morning. We loaded up the little red wagon and headed to the orchard to pick our first batch of apples. The girls were ready to go. Abby wanted to direct the whole activity, while taking all necessary precautions to ensure no one got stung by bees.
It might have happened back in 2012, but I guess there are just some things we don't forget. Ella was all about walking and picking apples all by herself. Both girls worked really hard to fill our bags (while eating lots of apple along the way).

Perfect timing! We got to go apple picking with my favorite fruit picker. My grandparents started taking my brother and I fruit picking when we were really young. It was always a big family event. We picked apples, peaches and cherries mostly.
Remember last summer when we went cherry picking and I found my 80 year old grandmother up in a tree? She's always the first to fill up her bag and always gets the best fruit from the tree. It was a great morning together filled with sunshine, fall air and fresh fruit.
Our trip the the orchard wouldn't have been complete without a stop for fresh cider donuts. We had all worked up such an appetite that Mama treated us to lunch in the farm cafe. I'm pretty sure I had the best roasted turkey, apple, cheddar sandwich (with cranberry mayo) that I've ever tasted. Lunch was so good, we had to take our donuts to go. But, not before a picture with the pumpkins. Fall is so fitting for a family that bleeds orange, isn't it? :)
