This party was so nostalgic because we had Abby's third birthday in the same room with so many of the same people. I didn't really think about it until we were all in there together again celebrating number 6. I had a few deja vu moments. Abby's third birthday still feels like yesterday!
For dessert, we had cupcakes with Lego candies on top. I remembered those Lego candies being one of my brother's favorite things to get at the candy store when he was a little boy, so I knew exactly where to find them! The girls loved that you could actually build things with them.
We made our rice krispie treats look like Legos with some frosting and M&Ms.
Ella was very excited to help!
We had the tables set up with everything you could need to decorate our own Lego man/girl. I'd say the glitter glue and pom poms were a hit! :)
We are so thankful for these ladies and their momma who came early and stayed after to help us get ready for the party! Love them so much.
What's a party without some pretty balloons?
Isabel, Makena and the birthday girl!
I always love the moment when I stop to look around the room at the party and soak up all the sweet friendships Abby has in her life. Most of the girls she has known her whole life, while the rest are girls in her class this year.
Miss Megan, Miss Courtney, Miss Christine and Anna Kate all took turns on baby duty, but Juliet was not having it. When this girl wants to sleep, she wants to sleep in her bed! She definitely took one for the team and stayed up way too long for the party. The best thing about this picture is I have almost the exact same picture of Courtney holding a sleep Ella just like this during Abby's third birthday.

What's almost as good as your own birthday party? Your sister's birthday party!

Lucy, Samantha and Anna Kate helped me with anything they could! They helped set up, pass out things to the kids, serve cupcakes and then they took turns holding Juliet.
The Pley Lego company sponsored part of Abby's birthday by sending bags of Legos (and goody bags) for each girl to play with at the party. After our Lego man craft and snacks, each girl got a bag of Legos and spent time building their best imagination creation with the random assortment of pieces they were given. It was fun to see what the girls came up with!
Samantha's creation was pretty cool!

Our sweet six year old birthday girl, mommy and daddy love you so much!
One of my favorite moments of the whole party was watching Abby open her gifts. Normally, we wait until we get home to open gifts rather than have her open them in front of everyone, but with time left before the end of the party we made a last minute decision. As her mom, I wondered if I had prepared her enough to open her gifts well while her everyone watched. I just didn't know how it would go and I didn't want her to hurt anyone without meaning to. I pulled her aside and made sure she wanted to do it and reminded her to thank everyone. The rest was all her. It was one of those moments as a mom where I had to step back and let go. So, I stood back and watched. Abby didn't seem to think twice about everyone watching her. She wasn't nervous. She took her time, making sure to look for a card first. Then, she read each word, looked up at that person and thanked them while making eye contact. She did a great job! I think God gave me that moment to really stop and not only see my little girl, but to see how grown my six year old little girl is.
My other favorite part was watching Ella at her sister's side. She insisted on handing Abby each gift. My mind flashed forward to Abby's bridal shower someday with Ella, her maid of honor, sitting by her side handing her the gifts. She was so excited to see what Abby got and celebrated each gift with her. She cracked me up because she kept saying, "Guys! Guys, let's not rush Abby. Let her enjoy this".
Thank you to every friend, big and small, who helped to make our girl feel extra special!
What a sweet group of little ladies!
and this. :)
