Lazy Sunday

What happens when you wake up on Friday morning with two sick girls? Well, I had to tell Abby that she couldn't go to her Harvest Party at school, that a long awaited afternoon play date at our house with friends  was cancelled and that our dinner with friends was going to have to be rescheduled. To say the girls were bummed is an understatement.

I had to think fast, so I made a quick trip to the store for something that would make the disappointment of our new plans a little bit better. I ended up with some new crafts and snacks that the girls found pretty exciting. Our sick day weekend just needed to be made into a fun event of its own. We were going to kick off being at home sick all weekend on the right foot.

We made crafty projects:

Lisa Frank stickers were my most exciting throwback find.

We stayed in our PJs most of the time, played dress up or just ran around in pull-ups:

We did a whole lot of this: (Oliver is officially the best napping buddy!)

We read lots of books and watched lots of movies:

By Sunday, we were over being sick, but we weren't better yet and stayed home from church. The girls made cupcakes with their Daddy from a Pinkalicious cookbook we got from the library. Daddy went out to buy all of the ingredients. These cupcakes were no joke. They were filled with all kinds of pink, including real strawberries and jam.  They were made from scratch from the cake to the frosting. That is a norm for me, but a pretty impressive undertaking for Joe.

While everyone else was busy baking in the kitchen, Ollie and I hung out on the couch. I enjoyed some coffee in my favorite Christmas mug and read a whole book, while Oliver curled on in my lap.

It was a perfectly relaxing Sunday afternoon!
