Welcome Home Juliet!

The doctors allowed us to come home the day after I gave birth, which I was thankful for. After being in the hospital for two whole nights (including my labor), I was ready to get into my own bed and be able to eat when I wanted to. I missed being with my family.

Ever since we left the hospital with Abby five and a half years ago, I have found the moment when we actually head home very surreal. We come in just a couple days before and then we leave with another human in our arms. It really is amazing.

So, just like that, we took Juliet home!

While I was in the hospital, my mom helped the girls make welcome home signs for me and Juliet. The girls were in the zone crafting with new glitter pens and neon colored poster board. When Joe pulled our car into the driveway, the girls and Grandma were waiting in the front yard with the posters and even had the whole front stoop decorated with chalk to welcome us home. Their excitement was contagious. We walked into the house and the girls immediately started giving Juliet the tour. "This is your home. This is the living room. This is the kitchen. Juliet, come on, this is your room!"

Oliver's reaction to Juliet was equally sweet. He was so excited and curious, but he was also very gentle and cautious the whole time. I wonder how much he knows. Does he know she was the one in my belly that he was cuddled up next to every night? All I know is he knows she is one of his girls and he takes his job protecting her very seriously. If you are looking for Ollie these days, he is usually not far from Juliet. He runs to her every time she cries and doesn't let anyone near her without making it clear that he is close by.

Big sisters couldn't decide if they were sad to go to school and leave Juliet for a few hours or excited to go to school and tell everyone that their baby sister had arrived.

We loved having Grandma here for Juliet's first days home. I mean how many people can say their Grandma has the coolest Hello Kitty bathrobe?! That's like rockstar status to a three and five year old.

Snuggling a newborn baby has to be one of the best things in the world!

For a special big sister activity, Grandma promised the girls an afternoon of manicures and makeup. They were giddy at the thought of getting access to Grandma's makeup bag. She has so much pretty eyeshadow. :)

And just like that my little girls became little 80's supermodels ready for the cover of a glamour magazine. Those faces... :)

One morning, when Abby was at school and I was home with Juliet, Ella ran errands and had a date with Daddy. Some time at Barnes and Nobles and a pretzel from Auntie Anne's filled Ella's love tank right up!

Meanwhile, back at home...

I just love sweet little baby feet.

Watching the girls love on their little sister is the best. They ask to hold her any chance they get!

There's Oliver...right underneath Juliet.
