Amy comes to visit
Amy came to visit and finally got the chance to meet Abby. Abby loved her! But really...who wouldn't? :) On Thursday, Amy and Jen B. came through Albany and we spent the afternoon together. Jen stayed for the afternoon. Amy stayed overnight and left in the morning on her way to a wedding in Buffalo.

The next Rachael Ray?
You all know how much I love to cook and learn new things in the kitchen. You know how much I love the Food Network. You may even know that one of my favorite Food Network cooks is Rachael Ray. BUT, what you might not know is that when I am in the kitchen alone and preparing a big meal/dessert (which I LOVE having the time to do), I like to try to see if I could do a cooking show myself. Yes, that's right...I talk to myself and pretend I am talking to an audience of people. :) It's fun and also hard work to cook and keep an audience engaged at the same time. I have really come to understand (on top of their great culinary skills) how talented Rachael, Bobby, Giada and Emeril really are!
Fast forward to post baby days...now I really have an audience to cook for and teach! She might not understand yet, but she is my biggest fan and she takes in every tip and trick I share. We like to call it "The Mommy and Abby Cooking Show!". I can't wait for the day when Abby is in the kitchen with me wearing her little apron and helping me cook.
Yesterday morning, she learned how to bake her first batch of chocolate chip cookies. Yum!

"So, this is a spoon....I use this to stir the batter...."
Could Abby be the next Rachael Ray? :)

Our trip to Rochester
On Friday afternoon, we took our first trip with Abby to Rochester. She was way past due to meet her Nana (Joe's grandma). It was really special to introduce them for the first time.

We had a great time. We played for a while and then headed to dinner at Bill Gray's for some authentic Rochester burgers. (I am sure Abby will enjoy them one day just as much as her dad!) We had dinner with Nana, Uncle John and Rebekah. Abby loved Rebekah and kept smiling at her. In the morning, Rebekah played with Abby and took her for a walk around the neighborhood.

We didn't have much time in town. It would have been great to stay longer. Before we left though, we had to visit with some of our great friends that we don't get to see very often. So, we made a quick stop for lunch before getting on the road.
Our friends Nate and Emily just had their little girl, Olivia, at the end of March. Abby got to meet her new friend. They are going to be conference buddies! Fall retreat here we come!
Introducing Abby to John and Laura and their kiddos, Hayden and Hannah was surreal on many levels. Mainly because we often joke that if it wasn't for John and Laura, Joe and I might never have dated. They have been with us through the whole process. When Joe starting to like me, John and Laura gave him advice on how to pursue me. When Joe started pursuing me, Laura helped me work through whether or not I thought this would be a good idea. I still remember her exact words...."Jen, I feel it in my gut!" (She's good!) They were in our wedding. And now, we got to introduce Abby to her Aunt Laura and Uncle Johnny I.
And then there are Hayden and Hannah. I was just a student when they were both born. I babysat for Hayden when he was just a little guy and Hannah was born one month before Joe and I got married. We love them! More friends for Abby!
Hannah LOVES babies. When I was pregnant, she would come up to my stomach and talk to Abby. You can imagine how excited she was when we set her up on the couch with two babies at once.

Hayden meets Abby.... (seriously I used to watch him when he drank from a bottle and now he is meeting my little baby! Time flies!)

First time in her Bumbo Chair
Rockstar
Abby and Will hung out for a bit after our staff meeting. (which really means I put them side by side and took some pictures while they looked at each other.) It is fun to see how fast they are growing. Last time they took a picture together Abby was 6 weeks old and Will was 2 weeks old.
Remember this one?
Now Abby is 14 weeks old and Will is 10 weeks old.
