November Snapshots

I'll start out these November snapshots with this precious throwback to two years ago. Because when this popped up on my phone, the scene right in front of me did not look much different two years later. I love that these guys have been the best of friends since Juliet was born!

The girls dressed up for Dr. Seuss day at school. Ella was Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Abby was Sally from The Cat in the Hat.

Abby and The Cat (also known as her second grade teacher)

Our school's Literacy Night theme this year was Dr. Seuss. Each class read and made artwork from one of Dr. Seuss' books. The school was decorated in wall to wall Dr. Seuss characters and truffula trees.

As we were checking out the artwork around the school, Juliet found her teacher, Ms. Dee!

We stopped in for a visit with our favorite librarian.

I still remember my elementary school field trip to the NYS museum. I loved seeing the scenes of how the Native American tribes lived in NY years ago. It was captivating to me to see in real form what we had been learning in the classroom. It stuck with me enough that when we first moved to here, I took Joe because I thought he just had to see the Iroquois longhouse. We've been back with our girls lots of times since, but in November I went with Abby's class for her longhouse experience. As we turned the corner and saw it, Abby ran up to me and said "Look Mom, we're at your favorite spot!" (I guess I've told her the story a few times!)

Juliet was a little less enthusiastic. So....either she is two OR she has gotten her feelings about museums from her daddy. 😉

I love this sight on a Sunday night!

I had the joy of hopping from one Thanksgiving party to the next one morning at school. I celebrated with Juliet in her classroom the week before. I'm thankful for these days, this season, my babies and the joy of being their mom!

Juliet's very favorite: Daniel Tiger

I spent most of November with a crazy virus that didn't want to kick it. When I went to the doctor, she said, "Oh....you caught that bug that fills your head and chest with mucus and lasts for 3+ weeks. You just need to drink lots of water and let it run it's course."  Yup! At least I knew I wasn't going crazy and there was some crazy super bug going around.

The girls and I spent a morning dancing and celebrating all that God is doing and has done at the grand opening of the new dance studio location!

Juliet kept shouting "CHEEEESSSSE" in the backseat. We didn't think much of it until we turned around and saw this...😎

The girls love literacy night at their school so much that they spent a whole weekend at home with their dolls preparing for their own Eric Carle themed literacy night.

These are the moments when Joe remembers to take out his camera...I promise I do more than nap with our girls! 😉

Let the record state that if I was in danger, one of the first people I would call is my brother. I would trust him to save me in the most dangerous situations I can imagine. However, if I needed him to kill a spider of any size or shape...GET. OUT. OF. TOWN. The scene in Home Alone when the spider crawls onto Marv's face is one of my brother's worst nightmares. It's true. Cory would run into a burning building, actively pursue a dangerous criminal, run to the rescue of anyone in need, but no spiders!

Cory and Bella came up for the evening to babysit the girls for us, so we could have a date night. Like the end of most dates, we remembered we needed something from Target before we headed home. After we grabbed the diapers, we found ourselves in the 90% off Halloween clearance section and when I saw the giant fuzzy (totally not real looking) spider, I knew we had to make this happen. When we got home and Cory and Bella were getting ready to leave, we got everyone onto the couch for a group picture. What a cute picture!

Did you see that gnarly spider next to Cory's head? I started to freak out like there was something really bad behind him. I told him not to move with my "OH NO I SEE A SPIDER" look on my face. He started inching forward (and trying to play it cool, while actually freaking out inside). I wish we had it on video, but this blurry one says it all. Just look at Juliet falling off of Cory's lap and into Bella's arms, as he "calmly" threw himself off the couch and away from the spider.

Hahahahahahaha brother bear, I got you good this time! Tag. You're it.

But, in all seriousness, we are so thankful for these two who selflessly give up their time to come and help us when we don't even ask. 💗

We ended the month with a Mommy/Abby and a Ella/Daddy date night. Abby and I stayed at home. We colored, watched Charlie Brown Christmas and made reindeer faces. Joe and Ella went to anotehr town, enjoyed some gelato and a walk through the winter stroll.

And one of our favorite parts of the month was a visit from our adopted Arkansas family. We love the Newells!

Joe and Juliet have their own secret language. This is one of the best videos of them doing it.

Juliet loves to go to school. She wakes up ready. She follows us around on Wednesday mornings until we get her in the car.
